Dinghy Sails

Sail Register designs and manufactures dinghy sails for over 100 classes, all produced in-house at our loft in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. Whether you are racing competitively or looking for a hard-wearing sail to learn on, we have a range to suit your needs and your budget.

Our dinghy sails fall into two categories. One design sails are built to class specifications for racing, while training sails offer excellent value for sailing schools, cadets and anyone who wants a reliable, durable sail without the racing price tag. One Design Sails

Our one design dinghy sails are built to class-legal specifications using quality woven polyester sailcloth. Every sail is digitally designed using our in-house CAD system and cut on our computer-controlled cutting table, giving precise panel shapes and consistent results across every sail we produce.

We currently hold patterns for 29 one design classes, including popular boats such as the Solo, Enterprise, GP14, Mirror, Fireball and Wayfarer. Each sail is designed to meet class rules while delivering good shape and performance on the water. Browse our full one design range to find your class.

Training Sails

Our training sails are designed for sailing schools, youth programmes, cadet fleets and recreational sailors who need a tough, affordable sail that can handle regular use in all conditions. We manufacture training sails for over 80 classes, making this one of the widest ranges available from any UK sailmaker.

Training sails are made from HSXP 626 double ripstop Dacron as standard, a strong and durable cloth that resists tearing and holds its shape well over time. For smaller boats such as the Topper, Laser Pico, RS Tera and RS Feva, we use 4oz white Dacron which is better suited to their lighter rigs. Every training sail is cut on the same computer-controlled system as our one design sails, so the fit and accuracy are the same.

Designed and Made in the UK

Every dinghy sail we produce is designed, cut and sewn at our workshop in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. We do not outsource any part of the manufacturing process. Our investment in a digital sail design suite, large-scale CAD plotter and computer-controlled cutting table means we maintain full control over quality, accuracy and turnaround time.

Sail Register is a family-run business with roots in the sailing industry dating back to 1966. We combine decades of traditional sailmaking knowledge with modern technology to produce sails that perform well, last well and represent good value for money.

Spinnakers and Additional Sails

Alongside mainsails and jibs, we also manufacture spinnakers for a wide range of dinghy classes. Our training spinnakers are made from MPEX, a durable and affordable fabric that stands up well to the demands of sailing school use. For one design racing, we can produce spinnakers in class-legal materials and designs.

If you need storm sails, spare jibs or any other additional sails for your dinghy, get in touch and we can advise on the options available for your class.

Custom Requirements

If your class is not listed in our standard range, or if you have a specific requirement that falls outside our usual offering, we are happy to discuss custom work. We can produce sails from measurements, existing patterns or old sails, and we are always willing to add new classes to our range based on customer demand.
