Affordable Training Sails for Every Dinghy Class
All of our training sails are designed, cut and built by us at our loft in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. We use computer-aided design software and digital cutting to get a precise, consistent shape from every sail we produce. They’re not class legal for racing events, but they are designed to be a fully compatible, cost-effective alternative that’s ideal for club sailing, training and teaching.
We currently supply training sails for over 80 dinghy classes, covering everything from popular club boats like the Topper, Laser and RS Feva through to larger dinghies and catamarans such as the Dart 18 and Hobie 16. Use the dropdown above to find your class, or get in touch if you can’t see what you’re looking for.
Every sail we hold in stock is stored rolled (as it should be) and comes with a long sail bag as standard.
Materials and Construction
The majority of our training sails are manufactured in HSXP 626 double ripstop Dacron. It’s a hard-wearing cloth that holds its shape well and stands up to the kind of regular use you’d expect in a training or club environment. For smaller singlehanders (Topper, Laser Mk2, Byte, Comet and others), we use 4oz white Dacron which suits the lighter loadings on these rigs.
Spinnakers are manufactured in MPEX nylon, available in blue, red or white. If you need a different mainsail colour for your fleet, we can do that by request too.
Every sail is digitally cut at our loft using our latest design software. The corners (tack, clew and head) are fully reinforced, and all eyelets are hydraulically pressed stainless steel, so they won’t corrode or let you down.
